Description:

Akamai is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join its Compute Foundations team, specifically working on the Linode Business Platform. Following Akamai's acquisition of Linode, this division is focused on making cloud infrastructure simple, highly scalable, accessible, and affordable. In this role, you will take ownership of the design, development, and maintenance of core web interfaces, backend applications, APIs, and cloud foundation services that power the platform. This is a high-impact position combining core backend system design, database management, and active exploration of Agentic AI opportunities to enhance the developer experience.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field.
• 5+ years of relevant, professional software development experience within an agile environment.
• Extensive hands-on mastery of Python 3 and modern REST API-based development frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Deep working experience managing relational database systems (RDBMS) like MySQL using advanced SQL and Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks like SQLAlchemy.
• Elite debugging, code-reviewing, troubleshooting, and architectural design-review skills.
• A solid understanding of distributed cloud platforms, containerization via Docker, continuous delivery pipelines (CI/CD), secure networking topologies, and Linux operating system internals.
• Proven capability to provide technical expertise, propose robust system designs, mentor junior developers, and lead collaborative cross-functional initiatives.
• Prior knowledge or legacy exposure to CFML (ColdFusion), JavaScript-based frontend frameworks like Angular, and fundamental HTML/CSS.
